Troy City Schools to reduce property tax millage rate for taxpayers

In a continued commitment to fiscal responsibility and easing the burden on local taxpayers, the Troy City School District is pleased to announce that it will reduce its property tax millage rate by 1.26 mills for Tax Year 2025, following a thorough review conducted in partnership with the Miami County Budget Commission.
After careful analysis of projected revenue increases from unvoted inside millage and the 20-mill floor and after a joint consultation with the Budget Commission, the BOE has decided to implement the following:
- Bond Fund Millage 2024: 4.66 mills → 2025: 3.85 mills (reduction of 0.81 mills)
- Bond Retirement Fund Millage 2024: 0.95 mills → 2025: 0.50 mills (reduction of 0.45 mills)
Total reduction: 1.26 mills
Estimated taxpayer savings: $1,632,814.24 in revenue the Troy City Schools will forgo in Tax Year 2025, payable and due in Calendar Year 2026
“We recognize the financial pressures many of our families and property owners are facing,” Troy City Schools Superintendent Chris Piper said. “While maintaining excellent educational programs and facilities remains our top priority, we are proud to return more than $1.6 million directly to taxpayers through this meaningful millage reduction. This action reflects our ongoing effort to be responsible stewards of public resources.”
The Troy Board of Education held a formal vote to accept this recommended reduction at its regular meeting on Dec. 8.
The Troy City Schools would like to thank the Miami County Budget Commission for its collaborative review and the taxpayers of our community for their continued support of our schools.
