The Troy City Schools will be dismissing 2 hours early on Tuesday (Sept. 1) and Wednesday (Sept. 2) due to the expected high temperatures. For transportation purposes, this early dismissal will also apply to Upper Valley Career Center students who attend Troy High School.

The National Weather Service in Wilmington, Ohio has issued a heat index warning beginning at 2 p.m. Tuesday and running through 11 p.m. Wednesday.

We have not yet made a decision regarding Thursday (Sept. 3), but will be vigilantly watching the forecast and any possible new warnings from the National Weather Service.

We make this decision first and foremost with the health and well-being of our students and staff in mind, especially knowing how our brick buildings retain heat through the evenings and how we must keep the windows shut after school closes for security reasons.

We apologize for the inconvenience this causes our families. We look forward to the long-term solution: new school buildings with air conditioning, as well as a new air conditioning system at Troy High School, in 2027.
